This project improves the performance space with the installation of an historically accurate valance and main drapery. The theatre’s 100th anniversary in December 2019 sparked the importance of legacy improvements to the performance area, such as the drapery, in the style of the original scenic artist in 1919, William Drake.
The Marquee Project
The Foundation fundraised $30,000 to support a contribution to the completion of the theatre’s new marquee. Features that were funded included video displays for coming events integrated into its historical style and colour-changing architectural lighting that gives this downtown landmark an entrance appropriate to the beautiful theatre inside. This bold new design now reflects the heritage of the building and its vaudeville origins as “Brantford’s Supreme Playhouse”.
